The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office 7 conducted a learning support activity for the scholars in Cebu Province at One Central Hotel, Cebu City on April 30, 2022.
Since the Corona Virus broke out in 2019 and had been declared pandemic early in 2020, this was the first face-to-face activity for OWWA 7 scholars in Cebu Province. The unprecedented global health crisis has disrupted the world in ways unimaginable and apparently one of the most impacted sectors was education. No one was prepared to embrace the shift.
On behalf of OWWA 7 Regional Director Martel R. Dasayon, Mr. Reynaldo B. Jacalan, OIC, PSD welcomed the over hundred scholars who participated the activity. He also gave a moving message to the participants to take this opportunity to learn new things and to have fun also.
Topic on Mental Health Awareness amidst the pandemic was discussed by Joselito O. Banono, Jr., Psychology Instructor at Cebu Institute of Technology-University. The discussion aimed to help the scholars thrive positively in their learning journey most specially during this time of adversity.
Time management, prioritization and productivity, personal growth and career development and financial literacy for students were also discussed by Ms. Mian Bernadette T. Cirujales, ETU Program-in-Charge, Ramon Matthew Basabe, Brand Builder and Business Consultant and Joseph Emerson Johl Subong, Students Affairs Office Director of the University of Cebu- Main Campus respectively.
The whole day activity ended successfully with the scholars’ active engagement to the speakers. The next learning support shall also be conducted to the region’s scholars in Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor provinces.
