OWWA, DMW, and DBM Meet to Strengthen Service for OFWs

OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman met to discuss how OWWA can accelerate and expand the services provided to our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families. DMW Assistant Secretary for Finance and Internal Management Lolet Ilescas is also included in the meeting.

The meeting is in accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen the presence of the government in the lives of every Filipino, whether here or abroad, as part of the New Philippines’ goal with a government that has a heart, moves fast, and truly serves.

The purpose of the discussion is to have an additional number of welfare officers and other frontline personnel, whether within the country or abroad. This is in response to the advocacy of DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac to strengthen the protection, support, and reintegration of OFWs through faster, efficient, and humane service.

With the addition of personnel, Administrator Caunan assured that OWWA’s service will be closer, prompt, and concerned, a concrete step to fulfill the government’s promise that no OFW will be left behind.
