Next-of-Kin of OFW killed in car crash in Singapore Receives Assistance from OWWA
The next-of-kin (NOK) of Arlyn P. Nucos, one of the OFWs who died in the tragic accident in Singapore on December 29, 2019, received Death and Burial Assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration earlier today, January 3, 2020.
Being an active OWWA member during her untimely demise, Arlyn’s family is entitled to claim social benefits such as death insurance amounting to P200,000, burial assistance of P20,000, scholarship assistance to any of her siblings and livelihood assistance of P15,000.
OWWA Regional Welfare Office I Supervising Administrative Officer Emmanuel Santiago C. Diaz, Social Benefit Unit Head Marissa C. Naboye, and Family Welfare Officer Khristian Paul M. Maglaya personally went to their residence in San Carlos, Caba, La Union to hand in the death and burial assistance check amounting to Php 220,000 to the OFW’s bereaved family Reynaldo P. Nucos and Alice P. Nucos-Austria.
Prior to the giving of social benefits assistance, OWWA RWOI has been in contact with the Nucos family since the car crash incident. On December 30, 2019 Welfare Assistance Unit Head (WAU) Loreta B. Vergara along with FWO Maglaya immediately visited the family to show support and sympathy and to deliver updates on the repatriation of OFW Arlyn’s remains.
OWWA Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac together with OWWA RWOI’s OIC Director Gerardo C. Rimorin and Ms. Vergara condoled with the Nucos family when the OFW’s remains arrived on January 1, 2020 at Clark International Airport, Mabalacat, Pampanga.
Meanwhile, the deceased OFW’s elder sister OFW Arceli P. Nucos, who was similarly hit by the car crash, is currently admitted in a hospital in Singapore after undergoing operation in her fractured leg. She will likewise receive medical and social assistance from OWWA.

Together with OWWA Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac, OWWA RWOI’s OIC Director Gerardo C. Rimorin and WAU Head Loreta B. Vergara were with the family during the arrival of the remains of OFW Arlyn at Clark International Airport in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
