From OWWA mandate’s perspective, I am pleased that these OFW parents have now benefited from one of the most significant welfare programs of OWWA,” said DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III.
“Our scholarship grants are directed to their dependents. I just hope that our new scholars will do their part of this benefit package by being diligent and focused so they would remain as scholars up to the time they finish the course. Their parents have done their part when they became active OWWA members,” said OWWA Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac.
The EDSP is OWWA’s educational assistance program for dependents of active OWWA members who wish to enroll in any four- or five-year baccalaureate program. It is competitive in nature, requiring all the applicants to be included in the top 400 of the roster who passed the pre-qualifying examination administered by the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI). An EDSP scholar is granted P60,000 per school year.
