OWWA–RWO6 Conducts Scholars Orientation to New EDSP Scholars for SY 2021-2022

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office VI (OWWA RWO6) conducted a Scholars Orientation to the new OWWA RWO6 scholars under the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) for School Year 2021-2022 this January 24, 2022 until January 25, 2022 at the OWWA RWO6 Cantonese Room.

EDSP is one of the competitive scholarship grants and OWWA’s exclusive scholarship programs for children or qualified dependents of OFW members with high academic standing and good scholastic records that needs to be preserved and sustained. It is a scholarship grant offered to qualified beneficiaries/dependents of active OWWA members who intend to enroll in a 4-5 year baccalaureate course in any preferred colleges/universities. It shall be in the form of financial assistance amounting to a maximum of PHP 60,000.00 per school year.

Ms. Sarah P. Togonon, OIC-Programs and Services Division of OWWA RWO6, kicked-off the second day of the activity through her opening message. She welcomed and congratulated the new EDSP scholars. She also stated during her opening remarks that the activity aims to orient the scholars for them to be knowledgeable of the educational scholarships and their obligations.

Ms. Gladys Naluis, EDSP-in-Charge oriented the scholars and their parents about the EDSP, scholarship agreement and the guidelines, and the obligations of the scholars during the activity. Ms. Naluis together with Ms. Joyce M. Cornelio, Labor Communication Officer of OWWA RWO6, also answered all concerns and issues raised by the scholars during the open forum.

The Orientation on Educational Scholarship/MOA Signing is a regular activity which serves as a venue in orienting the scholars and their guardians about OWWA, the scholarship program, scholarship agreement and the scholarship guidelines. It shall serve as a forum for signing of scholarship agreements.
