The Philippine Overseas Labor Office – Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA) in London conducted its first information session and onsite processing for the year for the members of the Philippine Muslim Association (PMA) last 16 February 2020 at the Tollgate Community Hall, Tollgate Gardens Estate in Kilburn.
More than 150 members of the PMA attended the session and availed of the following services:
The activity started with the discussion of Consul Arlene R. Gonzales-Macaisa about the various consular services offered by the Philippine Embassy in London, United Kingdom. She likewise informed the attendees of the ongoing overseas voters registration for the 2020 Philippine national and local elections.
Labor Attache Amuerfina R. Reyes led the Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) where she discussed the Philippine government’s programs on the protection of OFWs, basic employment rights under the Philippine and UK laws, minimum provisions of employment contract, and services offered by the POLO which includes contract registration and issuance of overseas employment certificate (OEC) to vacationing workers.
Welfare Officer Maria Consolacion C. Marquez also briefed the participants about OWWA membership and its social protection programs and services for its member-OFWs.
Lastly, Ms. Jennifer Eroda discussed the programs and services of SSS and addressed queries on the process of registration and reactivation of SSS membership.
POLO-OWWA has also announced its livelihood and skills training program on Bread Making for the members of the PMA to be held on 01, 08, and 15 March 2020.
