The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow OFWs of OFW Leah Mosquera, a Filipino caregiver in Israel who passed away after almost a month of fighting for her life.
Leah was among those injured in Rehovot, Israel on June 15, after a missile hit their flat. She was hospitalized in severe critical condition, and despite all efforts and prayers, she was brought back to life today—a sad news confirmed by her sister Mae Joy, who is also an OFW in Israel.
Leah is set to celebrate her 50th birthday this coming July 29.
#OWWA is joining forces with the Department of Migrant Workers, the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv, Migrant Workers Office, and relevant authorities in Israel to ensure the immediate repatriation of his remains, and providing the necessary financial and psychosocial assistance to his brother and family left behind.
In accordance with the clear directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. who “no Filipino will be left behind,” the government will answer all related expenses—from repatriation, local transport, funeral and burial expenses, to help for Leah’s sister.
As we mourn the loss of OFW Leah Mosquera, OWWA is calling for more global action to ensure the safety of migrant workers in countries with crisis or conflict. Like the DFA and DMW, we stand that every OFW has the right to live and work safely, with dignity, and with adequate protection wherever in the world.

Lubos pong nakikiramay ang Overseas Workers Welfare Administration sa pamilya, mga kaibigan, at kapwa OFW ni OFW Leah Mosquera, isang Filipinang caregiver sa Israel na pumanaw matapos ang halos isang buwang pakikipaglaban para sa kanyang buhay.
Si Leah ay kabilang sa mga nasugatan sa Rehovot, Israel noong Hunyo 15, matapos tamaan ng missile ang kanilang tinutuluyang flat. Siya ay naospital sa matinding kritikal na kondisyon, at sa kabila ng lahat ng pagsisikap at panalangin, binawian siya ng buhay ngayong araw—isang malungkot na balitang kinumpirma ng kanyang kapatid na si Mae Joy, na isa ring OFW sa Israel.
Si Leah ay nakatakda sanang magdiwang ng kanyang ika-50 kaarawan sa darating na Hulyo 29.
Ang #OWWA ay nakikiisa sa Department of Migrant Workers, ang Philippine Embassy sa Tel Aviv, Migrant Workers Office, at mga kinauukulang awtoridad sa Israel upang tiyakin ang agarang repatriation ng kanyang mga labi, at pagbibigay ng nararapat na tulong pinansyal at psychosocial sa kanyang kapatid at naiwang pamilya.

Habang tayo ay nagluluksa sa pagkawala ni OFW Leah Mosquera, nananawagan ang OWWA para sa higit pang pandaigdigang pagkilos upang masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga migranteng manggagawa sa mga bansang may krisis o kaguluhan. Katulad ng DFA at DMW, naninindigan kami na ang bawat OFW ay may karapatang mabuhay at magtrabaho nang ligtas, may dignidad, at may sapat na proteksyon saanmang panig ng mundo.
