In response to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive that “No Filipino left behind,” Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. personally welcomed him. Cacdac and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator PY Caunan the 52 Overseas Filipinos from Dubai consisting of 29 OFWs and 23 children of OFWs, were caught by Flight PR659 that landed this morning at NAIA Terminal 1.

At this number, 19 OFWs are among the beneficiaries of the UAE Amnesty Program, an initiative by the UAE Government that allows undocumented and overstaying migrant workers to return home without penalty. The amnesty availees include their 23 OFW dependents, who are minors.

Meanwhile, 10 of the repatriates are OFWs stranded in Dubai and are set to fly to Jordan for a new job contract. Due to increasing tensions in the Middle East and operational disruptions, their deployment could not be proceeded.

In response, DMW and OWWA immediately provided assistance, including temporary accommodation, food, and financial support to OFWs and their children.
Currently, DMW and OWWA have been assisted by 28 OFWs stranded in Dubai due to the temporary closures of major airports amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

This repatriation is part of the broader whole-of-government response of the government to ensure the safety and welfare of Filipino workers in different parts of the world, especially in countries with current crisis or tension.
