OWWA NCR Awards Educational and Livelihood Assistance to Beneficiary – Pasigeños

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office – National Capital Region (OWWA RWO-NCR) awarded livelihood and educational assistance checks to seven Pasigeños as part of the celebration of Migrant Workers’ Day at the Pasig City Hall on 29 June 2021.

The four Balik-Pinas Balik Hanapbuhay (BPBH) Program and three Educational Assistance through Scholarships in Emergency (EASE) beneficiaries were awarded by Pasig City Mayor Victor Ma. Regis “Vico” Nubla Sotto, OWWA Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac, together with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) NCR Director Sarah Buena S. Mirasol, and OWWA NCR Director Ma. Teresa B. Capa.

In his opening remarks, Pasig City Administrator Jeron Manzanero expressed the support of Pasig City to OFW Pasigeños and OWWA. As highlight, Mayor Vico Sotto graced the event with his presence and extended his greetings to the OFWs and their families in celebration of Migrant Workers’ Day and appreciated the DOLE and OWWA for the awarding of financial assistance to the OFW and scholar Pasigeños especially at this time of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Furthermore, he recognized the establishment of OFW help desk in the city, for bringing the government programs and services closer to the OFW Pasigeños.

In his closing remarks, Administrator Cacdac shared his delight as a Pasigeño himself, “51 years na po akong nakatira sa Pasig, hanggang ngayon.” He also acknowledged the works of Mayor Vico and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to establish OFW help desk in Pasig City which would cater to the needs and concerns of OFWs and their families. Administrator Cacdac congratulated the OFWs and scholar beneficiaries awarded with the educational and livelihood assistance.
