OFW injured in Singapore car crash now in the Philippines, receives assistance from OWWA RWOI

Almost two months after the tragic car accident that happened in Singapore last December 29, 2019, one among the two seriously injured Overseas Filipino Workers involved is already in the Philippines for her recovery.

Ms. Laila Laudencia, an OFW from San Fernando City, La Union who works as a Household Service Worker in Singapore, returned to the Philippines last February 3, 2020, for her full recovery for incurring fracture on her right leg.

After the accident, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office I (OWWA RWOI) through the Welfare Assistance Unit headed by Ms. Loreta B. Vergara has been in contact with Laila and her family to ensure her condition.

Last February 7, 2020, Laila together with her relative went to OWWA RWOI to personally claim her benefits as an Active OWWA Member. She received Php 10,000 medical assistance and livelihood assistance worth Php 20,000. She expressed her gratitude to OWWA for the benefits given to her since she cannot work until she is fully recovered. “Thank you so much OWWA, this is a big help to my family especially to my children”, Laila said.
