OWWA Computer Literacy Reaches 3 OFCs in Bukidnon

Last April 18-20, Regional Office 10 in partnership with the Department of Education – Bukidnon Division reached three (3) OFW Family Circles (OFCs)  in the Province of Bukidnon to extend OWWA’s services to among 25 participants held at Valencia National High School, Poblacion, Valencia City, Bukidnon. Among the 3 OFCs were: Brgy. Colonia OFW and Beneficiaries Association, OFW Valencia City, Inc., and Migrants Ministry – Brgy. Dologon Chapter.


It is the goal of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to introduce computer literacy program not just to enhance knowledge and skills but bridge the communication gap between the OFWs and their dependents, hence promoting harmonious relationship among them, moreover, computer literacy nowadays is indeed essential in business and education, as well as for personal use.


Participants were able to familiarize with office programs, such as Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentation and Internet Knowledge used to be the standard skill set for most business operations.


Computer literacy has value in other areas of life outside of professional development. It is helpful for researching important topics or personal concerns and even in properly using computer and navigate the digital terrain that helps to make life organized and streamlined.


In this era, mobile media devices are becoming increasingly popular, reinforcing the need for computer illiterates to consider taking a skill course. Computers have changed almost every facet of daily life, and one can be sure that their presence is to become updated and more in the present.  Thus, gaining computer literacy helps one to prepare for the future.


Further, OWWA continues information drive on the salient features of R.A. 7610 and the other related Laws Against Child Abuse that same 2-day training and seminar.
